Overview

Murph's Creamery & Grill, located conveniently along US-30 in Toledo, Iowa, offers a classic American dining experience with a nostalgic twist. This friendly, clean spot blends a cozy diner atmosphere with a menu that appeals both to families passing through and local regulars craving hearty comfort food.

The crown jewel here is the Murph Burger, a perfectly balanced creation served on a pretzel bun that elevates the traditional bacon cheeseburger with its precision and freshness. Equally impressive are the hand-breaded tenderloins and chili dogs, delivering rich, robust flavors with a satisfying crunch. The French fries deserve special mention, coming out piping hot with a crispy batter that adds just the right textural contrast, completing the plate delightfully.

The creamery side of the house is where Murph's truly shines for dessert lovers. Their ice cream is rich and creamy, embodying that old-fashioned style that feels both indulgent and familiar. Classic cones, malts, and a variety of inventive shake mixers—from Banana Split to Nutty Fudge Brownie—offer a sweet finish to any meal. Fans of lighter fare or simple pleasures will appreciate the vanilla sprinkle cone, a testament to Murph’s commitment to quality ice cream.

Inside, the dining area is clean and welcoming, staffed by attentive and friendly employees who make an effort to recommend favorites and popular items. The space maintains a lively, communal vibe without overwhelming noise, perfect for casual lunches or quick stops. The option for both walk-in diners and drive-thru patrons adds convenience, making it easy for those on the road to enjoy a quality meal without delay.

While some patrons note that the dining room closes ahead of store hours, inviting patrons to enjoy their food outside or in their vehicles, this small detail hardly obscures the overall positive experience. Families seeking a satisfying burger, travelers desiring a quick yet memorable bite, and anyone with a sweet tooth looking for real creamy ice cream will find Murph’s Creamery & Grill more than meets expectations.

Murph's strikes a rare balance between nostalgia and freshness, comfort and quality. For those in or passing through Toledo, it’s a noteworthy stop that offers more than just a meal—it offers a taste of home.

Very nice place. People tend to be friendly. Ice cream is the real creamy kind. Burgers are good. Only issue is they close the dining area at half hour before close so either have to eat outside, which is ok if weather permits and not buggy or in your car.

We stopped as we were passing through to get some ice cream. Cute little diner with options for walkin and drive thru. The service was good and prompt. We only ordered simple ice cream cones and malts to go, but both were good. If you are looking for the nostalgic vanilla ice cream with the flavor swirls, this is a place to stop at! The dining area was a little loud, but that can be any restaurant

My son and I had lunch there for the first time and everything was TOP TIER. We come from a land of disappointing fast food so we REALLY appreciate something good. We were so happy to get such awesome food. Super hearty and satisfying burgers and the crispy fries were CHEFS KISS. Superb! Unforgettable! 10s across the board!. Whenever we come back to town now we will definitely come back.

The inside was incredibly clean and the staff immediately friendly and helpful. I’m not usually a big fan of bacon on burgers, but the Murph burger balanced it really well. Phenomenal on the pretzel bun! Everything made to order meant the fries were crispy and hot (and they have the good, crunchy batter fries!!). While I ended up deciding on a simple vanilla sprinkle cone, the staff was ready to give their favorites and what was popular. Phenomenal spot!

This place is amazing!! Food is terrific;atmosphere is relaxing! Only thing I would change would be and offer if a Gluten Free Bun. Everyone in the area should go here and if I lived closer I'd be 100 pounds heavier thanks to Murphs!
